In response to Ellen’s question about the competition that enabled me to win a beautiful, high-tech, sewing machine:
The November, 2006 issue of Popular Patchwork magazine had a reading comprehension exercise where you had to read about four different types of sewing machines (the Brother Innov-is machines that were up for grabs) and then answer three questions:
1) Which Innov-is machine has 400 built-in stitches?
2) How large is the total sewing area?
3) How many buttonhole styles on the Innov-is 200?
I got second prize! The Brother Innov-is 400. It *only* has 290 different stitches.
