Bertie Bott's Every Flavor Beans

June 29, 2007

Last weekend Paul and I went to Cyber Candy – one of my favourite shops in Covent Garden. In keeping with my current Harry Potter fever, I was very excited when I saw Bertie Bott’s Every Flavor Beans (although it does have the American spelling of flavour – I will have to see how it is spelt in the Harry Potter books!).

Here is the pattern for the skirt I’ve started making. It’s the first sewing pattern I’ve ever bought. I was quite excited about learning to sew. Read the rest of this entry »

ooh noo

June 26, 2007

It seems my embedded Harry Potter trailer is not working. I would like to embed the trailer from Youtube but I’m currently at work and Youtube (along with heaps of other good sites) are blocked at work!

The Order of the Phoenix and the Deathly Hallows!

June 25, 2007

Ok, more Harry Potter:

Have recently seen the trailer for Harry Potter film number 5, Order of the Phoenix and it looks great! Can’t wait till July 12 when it comes out.

There are also a couple of books out at the moment theorising about what might happen in Harry Potter book 7 (the final one!). Paul thinks I should just wait till the book (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows) comes out and read it but that’s not the point. I’m not very good at coming up with ideas about what might happen so I want to read other people’s ideas.

New flatmate, sewing and assembling a bed

June 19, 2007

Just a quick update:
Last week I bought my first ever pattern and fabric and interfacing and a zip and have started making a skirt. You can see a photo of me here.

On the weekend our new Italian flatmate, Edith moved in and last night we put her new bed together. She has photos of it you can look at!

Open art studios

June 7, 2007

This weekend some art studios in London are having open days. I’m quite excited about it. I still have to look through the website at all the different studios and decide which ones I simply have to visit. I’m sure it will provide plenty of inspiration but I’m also sure it will probably make me want to give up work and become an artist.

I’m currently watching Star Wars, episode 5, the Empire Strikes Back. Yesterday we watched Star Wars, episode 4, a New Hope. I’ve also watched the Notorious Bettie Page which was interesting.

I’m currently crocheting a little short-sleeved jacket from my Stitch and Bitch: the Happy Hooker book. I learnt to crochet from it but I’ve only made a scarf from it up to this point! Will post a photo as soon as it’s done.

Well I’m remembering how full time work sucks. I hate spending so many of my waking hours doing stuff I’m not into. I should have got a part time job! Maybe I’ll try to stick this out for a few months then look for a better (less time consuming) job. I only went to the gym once last week and I haven’t been at all this week. Maybe I should go before work – I don’t have to be there until 9.30!
