Last weekend was lots of fun. On Friday night, Paul and I went to the Antony Gormley exhibition called Blind Light at the Hayward Gallery. It was really amazing! (Antony Gormley did the Angel of the North sculpture)

I wrote a review of Rosetta by Barbara Ewing and put it on my other blog, Spinster Zine.

Edinburgh

July 29, 2007

The weekend before last, I trained up to Edinburgh to visit my good friend Lucy. She moved there to do her PhD and she has been finding it tough (not meeting too many like-minded people, crappy weather, so far from friends and family). I also got to catch up with my friend Jen who I hadn’t seen for about two years.

Here I am, with my new haircut, looking out over downtown Edinburgh (that’s the Scot’s monument to the left).

Following are Before and After photos of Lucy and I from our trip to the salon while I was in Edinburgh!

Lunch with Adrian

July 29, 2007

The weekend that Paul and I did our shopping for bag and shoes, we also had lunch with my old school friend Adrian. He lives just outside of London – kind of South West but he travels a LOT for his work – training people around the world; something to do with mobile phone towers and fixing them, I think. Before this, I hadn’t seen him for months.

New shoes and bag

July 29, 2007

Paul and I did some shopping a few weekends ago (just before we had lunch with my friend Adrian). See us posing with our new purchases!

I got some new birkenstocks from the Birkenstock shop in Neal Street, Covent Garden (which is where I bought my boots!).

Paul bought some new canvas shoes from Terra Plana in Neal Street, Covent Garden (which is where he bought his very-thin-soled shoes he loves and has worn to death).

I also got a very nice shoulder bag from the Tate Modern. I had been looking around for a new shoulder bag for a while and decided to go with this one. It wasn’t cheap, but Thomas told me that the designer‘s bags usually sell for much much more than this one cost! (probably at least twice as much)

The Knockout Roadshow!

Two weeks ago we spent Sunday at Paul’s work’s Summer event – at the Knockout Roadshow.

cool things

July 20, 2007

Paul sent me a couple of cool links recently:

A sewing cafe in Berlin

And the Cool hunter. I especially like the books section but am yet to really explore the site.

Our friend Scotty, who lives in Berlin is coming to town this weekend and I think he is staying with us on Saturday night.

And my friend Cherie is also in town for the weekend so it will be nice to catch up with her and a couple of others I know through her. Should be good.

Paul and I are thinking of going to see some installations by Antony Gormley tonight at the Haywood Gallery on the South Bank.

Trips planned

July 5, 2007

In eight days I will be catching a train up to Scotland to visit friends in Edinburgh. I will see Lucy and Jen and Mez and Matilda and Otto!

In September I am going to Venice with Paul and our two flatmates for four days. I’m very excited about it. I plan to spend a lot of that time looking at art in the Venice Biennale.
