Tonight Paul went to a restaurant, with people from his work. I’m quite jealous because I want to go to this restaurant, called Dans Le Noir, which means In The Dark. You eat in the dark (pitch black darkness) and are served by blind waiters – I kid you not.
Last Sunday, Paul and I decided to check out the new Westfield shopping centre in Shepherds Bush. It is quite impressive.
On Monday night Paul and I went to see the new James Bond film (Quantum of Solace?). I didn’t see the last one and this was a sequel of sorts. It was ok. And I don’t think as misogynistic as previous Bond films, but still not brilliant – there were good fight scenes, chase/action scenes. And Dame Judy is cool.
The cold snap we had has eased somewhat and I’ve actually been getting quite hot as I think I’m overdressing (and it’s never that cold on the tube anyway).
I was very excited about the US election result. Let’s hope Barack Obama and Joe Biden and the rest of them don’t let us down too much. I did read about a lot of regressive stuff that various US states voted for (banning gay marriage in California, banning the fostering of children by unmarried couples in another state) but it wasn’t all doom and gloom.
Last Saturday night we had dinner with our friends Thomas and Daniel and their friends which was very nice. And I discovered vodka and apple juice – very yummy.
This Saturday night we’re venturing out to the south of London (Wallington) to have dinner with a friend and go to the local Guy Fawkes bonfire and fireworks display. Should be fun. I really want to buy and set off some fireworks while I’m here (because it is legal).
