Fantasy films and sci-fi TV and fantasy and sci-fi books.

During the week I watched the film, They Live. Made in 1988, it is a great, conspiracy/sci-fi film about aliens who have enslaved humans without us knowing, brainwashing us through the media that surrounds us. A Joe Average construction worker stumbles upon sunglasses that let him see ‘the truth’ of what is going on around him.
When I say ‘it’s a great film’, I mean that kind of like ‘so bad it’s good’. Paul disagrees with me though. He thinks it’s rockin’. The main character, Nada, is played by the professional wrestler, Roddy Piper. He is really buff but has an awful mullet. The film has an interesting, violent and long fight scene where Nada tries to get his co-worker to put on the glasses to see ‘the truth’.

Imagine this:
“Put on the glasses man.” *thump, whack*
“No man, you’re crazy, get away from me.” *kick, whack, thump*
and on, and on, and on.
It also has the great line:

I’ve come here to chew bubblegum and kick arse. And I’m all out of bubblegum.
