The IT Crowd

March 31, 2007

The IT Crowd follows the adventures of the IT Department of a large company. Here we see characters Jen, Moss and Roy in their office, way down in the basement.

Last night, my flatmate Will and I travelled out to Pinewood studios to watch a recording of the Channel 4 TV show the IT Crowd. I gave Paul a DVD of the first series for Christmas. Now they’re filming the second series. Paul couldn’t come because his team from work went to see (the musical) Avenue Q.

Chris Ware animation

March 31, 2007

I love the comics of Chris Ware. They are amazing, beautiful, sad, happy, inspiring, and more.

I found a link to an animation of his through the livejournal of the IT Crowd writer Graham Linehan.

They live, we sleep

March 31, 2007

DVD cover for They Live

During the week I watched the film, They Live. Made in 1988, it is a great, conspiracy/sci-fi film about aliens who have enslaved humans without us knowing, brainwashing us through the media that surrounds us. A Joe Average construction worker stumbles upon sunglasses that let him see ‘the truth’ of what is going on around him.
When I say ‘it’s a great film’, I mean that kind of like ‘so bad it’s good’. Paul disagrees with me though. He thinks it’s rockin’. The main character, Nada, is played by the professional wrestler, Roddy Piper. He is really buff but has an awful mullet. The film has an interesting, violent and long fight scene where Nada tries to get his co-worker to put on the glasses to see ‘the truth’.

Imagine this:
“Put on the glasses man.” *thump, whack*
“No man, you’re crazy, get away from me.” *kick, whack, thump*
and on, and on, and on.
It also has the great line:

I’ve come here to chew bubblegum and kick arse. And I’m all out of bubblegum.

Wiggle Stereo 3D pictures

March 28, 2007

So here are a couple of wiggle stereo 3D pictures that Paul did. Let me know if you think they are (or aren’t) looking 3D-like. At the moment you have to click on the picture, then click on the picture again in the new page before you see it wiggling! and it is wiggling too quickly. I will work on this problem and see what I can do!

Paul's hair, friends in town, lovely art books, the end of slavery?

March 26, 2007

For a while Paul has been talking about getting his hair cut but he just couldn’t decide where to go. Last week we ended up doing it at home in the bathroom. We hacked away at it and cut it a lot shorter at the back and made it a bit shorter on top. I’m so jealous of people with curly hair that their hair can look good after chopping away at it at home. So his hair is looking quite nice and a bit shorter. Wish I had a photo!

On Sunday we hung out with Paul’s friend Dani. We wandered around in town, went to a couple of coffee shops, heard how Dani’s health is (it’s been exactly a year since her diagnosis of breast cancer), her PhD (it’s been on hold for a year, as you can imagine), her music (her latest band is Vineland), and we told her what we have been up to since leaving Aus ten months ago.

Banksy

March 26, 2007

I went to the Andipa gallery to see a Banksy exhibition on Saturday which was the last day of the exhibition (actually, the Guardian’s Guide says it was, but I just saw on the Andipa website that it’s been extended to April 5). I love Banksy’s graffiti that he is well-known for and would love to get his book Wall and Piece.
